Grammy Nominations, 2018

The most awaited and the most prestigious awards in the music industry are around the corner and the list of nominations is out, but first of all, let me tell you a brief history about the awards.

The Grammy Award popularly known as the ?Grammys?, it was originally called the Gramophone Award. It is an honor awarded by The Recording Academy to recognize outstanding achievement in mainly English Language music industry. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists and the presentation of the awards that have a more popular interest.

The first Grammy ceremony was held on May 4, 1959, to honor and respect the musical accomplishments by performers for the year 1958. The last Grammys i.e. the 59th ceremony was held on February 12, 2017, at the Staples Centre in Los Angles. Earlier, the awards were given in 109 categories but from 2011 it is given in only 78 categories. The winners are chosen by the voting members of the Recording Committee.

The 60th Grammys will be held on January 28, 2018, at the Madison Square Garden, New York City. James Corden will host the event and CBS network will broadcast the show live.


On Tuesday morning, the nominations were out and Jay-Z led the nominations with eight categories, he is followed by Kendrick Lamar whose ?DAMN? album scored seven. Bruno Mars has nominations in six categories.
