The two fastest trains of India
Indian Railways is the backbone of our country and a few days ago the fastest train of the nation was set off. India is a developing country and for a population of 1.3 billion these milestones carry a lot of importance. This article will give you a glimpse of the fastest trains of India i.e. the Train 18 and the 2nd fastest i.e. the Gatimaan Express.

Train 18
 Max. Speed- 181kmph
Designed and built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai under the Indian government's Make in India Initiative over a span of 18 months train 18 is India's fastest semi-high speed train. It is a type of self-propelled train meaning that it is engine-less. It was developed indigenously at the cost of ?100 crore (US$14 million). The train was inaugurated on 25 December 2018.
Train 18's exterior appearance has been likened to that of a bullet train, with an aerodynamic narrowing of each end of the train. It has a driver coach at each end of the train, allowing for faster turnaround at each end of the line. The train has 16 passenger cars, with a seating capacity of 1,128 passengers.

The train's seats, braking system, doors, and transformers are the only elements of the train to be imported, it employs a regenerative braking system, and also uses electro-pneumatic brakes imported from Hungary.
Indian Railways and ICF are also planning the development of Train 20 and four more Train 18's. The line is supposed to be unveiled in 2020.Train 18 has replaced the current Shatabdi Express on the Delhi-Varanasi route, thus reducing travel time along the route by 15 percent.
The Gatimaan Express
Max. Speed- 160 kmph
Gatimaan Express is the 2nd fastest train in India. Gatimaan Express presently runs between Delhi and Jhansi and attains a maximum speed of 160 kmph - making it 2nd Indian Railways' fastest train. The Gatimaan Express was extended this year up to Gwalior and Jhansi.

Gatimaan Express was flagged off amidst much fanfare in April 2016 and till date no other train of Indian Railways plies at a maximum speed of 160 kmph. Currently, Gatimaan Express takes 100 minutes to travel the 188-km long distance between Nizammuddin (Delhi) and Agra Cantt. The train has stewards and hostesses, similar to attendants on flights. Free Wi-Fi, extensive cuisine and choices are some of the other features of the train.
Even as the Gatimaan Express is extended, Indian Railways is manufacturing self-propelled train sets that will also be able to attain maximum speeds of 160 kmph.
