This is the 28th module on learning C with us. Earlier we discussed on the basic introduction and structure of C, preprocessor it's features, intermediate and executable codes. compilation and execution process of a C program. And keywords and identifiers, data types, variables and constants, scope of variables, operators and expressions in C. Type casting in #C. Introduction to input and output functions and reading a character in #C. Unformatted and formatted input functions. Branching statements like if, if-else, nested if-else. And different types of loops. Von Neumann architecture of an computer.
In this section we will discuss on the fundamental of a computer, the memory unit, components like inputting, storing, processing, outputting, and controlling.
According to Von Neumann architecture the main component of a digital computer are :
Memory unit :-

Data and instructions entered into a system through any input device have to be stored inside the computer. Similarly, results have to be kept inside the computer system before being passed on to an output unit. Storage unit/ memory unit catres to all these needs.
There are two types of memory unit present :-
1. Primary memory :-

It is also known as main memory. It stores data/ instructions,  intermediate results, recently produced result on which computer is currently working on.
  • It stores the information electronically.
  • It is very expensive and has limited capacity.
  • As soon as the computer switched off, the information held in this memory is erased.
  • 2. Secondary memory :-
  • It is also known as auxiliaries storage.
  • It is much cheaper and it can retain information even when a computer switched off.  ?

In next module we will continue our discussions on the next topic on different types of another units of fundamental of computers.
