Why the Pyramids of Giza are so mysterious?
Pyramids can be seen all around the world, scientists and archeologists have spent years conducting studies on the Pyramids. The Pyramids were created by the Egyptians, Mayans, Chinese, Europeans, Japanese, Bahamians, Polynesians, and the list goes on and on. The pyramids are so unique, that one must wonder if they were created by just one culture traveling the world. But The Pyramids of Giza remain famous throughout the world. Let's know more about them in this article.
Still standing
The Giza complex consists of three large pyramids built for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure; among these the Khufu pyramid is the largest. The grand structures were built between 2589 BC and 2504 BC. This is 2019 and the pyramids still continue to stand, they have withstood earthquake and floods. They are the oldest man made structure still in perfect shape. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence.
Unknown way of construction
The Pyramids of Giza are magnificent sight and how they were built has been a source of debate. Historians agree there was an immense amount of labor involved; technical ingenuity and skill that went into the pyramids helped the structures remain standing today. Many historians say that the Egyptian pyramids were not built by large groups of slaves or prisoners. Egyptians were employed and archeologists estimate the workers would have had to set a 2.5 to 15 ton block every two and a half minutes to finish Khufu?s pyramid in about 30 years.
Time runs slow near the Pyramids in Giza!
The Pyramids of Giza have great mass which influences its surroundings, gravity and time; people standing next to the Pyramid should notice the faster motion of people standing far from the pyramid. Stephen Hawking mentions that time runs slowly because of the Pyramids mass, they are heavy and therefore affect the gravity. Gravity makes time run slowly; scientists have confirmed and named this phenomenon Gravitational Red Shift which causes time to slow down near a huge mass. If you were standing 1/2 mile from one of the larger Egyptian pyramids, space-time between you and the center of the pyramid would be distorted and that in turn means that the ticking of your wristwatch would be different than a wristwatch at the center of that pyramid. The difference would be far too tiny to measure, but it would still exist.
The mysterious purpose of the pyramids
Historians and archeologists believe that the purpose of the pyramids was to house the king?s body after death. The Giza pyramids have elaborate tunnel systems inside containing gold and other riches. Egyptians thought would be useful in the afterlife. The Egyptians also believed the dark area of the night sky around which the stars appear to revolve was the physical gateway into the heavens. One of the narrow shafts that extend from the main burial chamber through the entire body of the Great Pyramid points directly towards the center of this part of the sky. This suggests the pyramid may have been designed to serve as a means to magically launch the deceased pharaoh's soul directly into the abode of the gods. All Egyptian pyramids were built on the west bank of the Nile, which, as the site of the setting sun, was associated with the realm of the dead in Egyptian mythology.
